Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program (IPVAP)

National Emergencies, Disasters and IPVAP

Research has shown relationship conflict and/or abuse may occur and escalate during times of crisis (like a national pandemic, such as the flu, or a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, flood, or tornado). When experiencing intimate partner violence (IPV), any disruption to normal life or access to services can mean increased potential for harm.

The “National Emergencies, Disasters, and Intimate Partner Violence (IPV)” informational video was developed to raise awareness and broaden outreach through a visual modality. Because national emergencies, disasters, and IPV can affect anyone, special attention was paid to inclusivity with regard to diversity (race, sexuality, age, gender).
